You Deserve to Feel Great. I’m Here to Help.

My path to becoming a myofunctional therapist began after practicing dental hygiene for six years in a complete health dentistry practice. After graduating from Truckee Meadows Community College with my Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene and then graduating from The College of Southern Nevada with my Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene two years later, I came across the growing field of myofunctional therapy.

As I began studying myofunctional therapy, I quickly realized this was the missing link to my professional career that I was looking for. Aside from being a dental hygienist, I have always been passionate about fitness and helping people with their overall health and wellness. As a fitness instructor since 2014, I love teaching exercises and seeing physical and emotional changes occur with practice and dedication. With Myofunctional therapy, I can now link my passion for oral health with my love of exercises and therapy to improve the health of those in my community even more.

My training in myofunctional therapy is rooted around airway and breathing. I have over 100 hours of introduction and advanced training in myofunctional therapy. I am fascinated by how the position of the tongue, muscular function of the face and craniofacial development is linked so strongly to overall health, sleep, and well being.

Prior to starting Reno Tahoe Myo, I was determined to find other like minded professionals who value the importance of airway and breathing. I am one of the co-founders of Breathe Reno. This is a network of dentists, dental hygienists, oral surgeons, orthodontists, physicians, and speech therapists in Northern Nevada. We all have come together to grow awareness of airway issues and oral myofunctional disorders in order to prevent dysfunctions from progressing into disease later in life. This team is a crucial component to achieve complete health care for my patients.

My goal is to help children and adults understand their own functional disorders in order to prevent sleep disordered breathing and negative growth patterns from adversely effecting their overall health.

I am looking forward to treating you and your loved ones and connecting you to a multidisciplinary approach of care to reach your optimum health.

My healthcare journey started in 2014 when I graduated from the dental hygiene school at Truckee Meadows Community College. I have always had a passion to dive deeper and find the root cause of symptoms, but was always limited in doing so as a dental hygienist.

In 2021 I had my second son, who was born with a tongue tie. His restriction with his tongue created many complications, such as painful nursing, reflux, delayed weight gain, and ultimately led him to be colicky. Despite my efforts to try and relieve his symptoms through body work, as well as seeing a lactation consultant, he was still uncomfortable. It wasn’t until having his tongue tie revised that his symptoms started to get better, and he became a happier baby very quickly. The journey I went through with him is when my interest sparked with myofunctional therapy. In 2023 I had my third son, who was also tongue tied. After going through the tongue tie release with him as well I knew I wanted to learn more about how to help others, and make it my career path.

I feel that my natural mindset, hygiene experience and completion of the AOMT course will allow me to teach people about the importance of myofunctional therapy and how it can be related to many other diseases/dysfunctions. I love advocating for this profession and am excited to be able to educate more people and truly make a difference in their journey.

In my free time you can find me enjoying the outdoors. My husband and I enjoy camping, hiking, fishing and baseball, and are loving watching our three sons grow to love our passions as well.
