About Me
Christi Mannos, BSDH Oralfacial Myofunctional Therapist
You Deserve to Feel Great. I’m Here to Help.
My path to becoming a myofunctional therapist began after practicing dental hygiene for six years in a complete health dentistry practice. After graduating from Truckee Meadows Community College with my Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene and then graduating from The College of Southern Nevada with my Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene two years later, I came across the growing field of myofunctional therapy.
As I began studying myofunctional therapy, I quickly realized this was the missing link to my professional career that I was looking for. Aside from being a dental hygienist, I have always been passionate about fitness and helping people with their overall health and wellness. As a fitness instructor since 2014, I love teaching exercises and seeing physical and emotional changes occur with practice and dedication. With Myofunctional therapy, I can now link my passion for oral health with my love of exercises and therapy to improve the health of those in my community even more.
My training in myofunctional therapy is rooted around airway and breathing. I have over 100 hours of introduction and advanced training in myofunctional therapy. I am fascinated by how the position of the tongue, muscular function of the face and craniofacial development is linked so strongly to overall health, sleep, and well being.
Prior to starting Reno Tahoe Myo, I was determined to find other like minded professionals who value the importance of airway and breathing. I am one of the co-founders of Breathe Reno. This is a network of dentists, dental hygienists, oral surgeons, orthodontists, physicians, and speech therapists in Northern Nevada. We all have come together to grow awareness of airway issues and oral myofunctional disorders in order to prevent dysfunctions from progressing into disease later in life. This team is a crucial component to achieve complete health care for my patients.
My goal is to help children and adults understand their own functional disorders in order to prevent sleep disordered breathing and negative growth patterns from adversely effecting their overall health.
I am looking forward to treating you and your loved ones and connecting you to a multidisciplinary approach of care to reach your optimum health.
